![]() ![]() I have SSD's older than MX500 with 4x the amount of writes and power on hours and they have between 72-100% life remaining.ĭid I get a lemon or is there maybe a bug in the firmware? I know this is a popular drive, so I'm hoping someone here has an answer. Seeing the drive down to half its life in 2.5 years with so little writes is unacceptable. I bought this drive, multiple models actually, because they were well reviewed with quality components. With the way things are going, this drive will be dead by this time next year. This year alone it has dropped 25% of its life down to 47%. As I said above, I have only written 7 TB to the drive. The Crucial MX500 500 GB which I own is rated for 180 TB TBW. Commentors also said the drive was losing life at a normal rate. I use this drive in a Plex server and I figured that Plex was writing large amounts of metadata, killing the SSD in the process. I made a post about said drive over a year ago on /r/PleX.
